The Child and Adolescent Program at the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders (CARD) offers clinical services to young people experiencing anxiety, including selective mutism, and other related disorders such as OCD and depression. The program provides comprehensive evaluations and state-of-the-art cognitive-behavioral therapy, along with other evidence-based treatments for children and adolescents between the ages of 3 and 17. We provide short-term outpatient skills-based treatment. Although an individual treatment plan is put together for each child, on average our treatment consists of 12 to 20 weekly sessions that are 50 minutes in length. The center is open Monday through Friday, and offers after-school appointment times. Though the center does not accept insurance directly, some insurance providers will reimburse for our services. While you would be paying out of pocket initially at the center, we can provide the necessary billing information to submit for reimbursement. We offer treatment sessions and assessments on a sliding scale fee which is based on gross annual income. In addition, we offer research studies that may provide treatment faster than our paid clinical services, at lowered to no cost.

Though the majority of our services are individual treatment, please visit our website for more information on additional treatment options (e.g. group treatment, or week long intensives for panic disorder and specific phobias). Our website also provides further information on the disorders we specialize in:

Due to high patient volume, our clinic currently has a waiting list for traditional individual therapy services, and it likely will be several months before an opening is available. However, you may be able to receive treatment more quickly through some of specialized programs, including our group therapy program, our intensive treatment program, and some of our clinical research studies.

Please note that Child CARD is not an urgent care facility. If your child needs immediate psychiatric care, we advise you to contact your nearest emergency room or call 911. If you otherwise feel unable to wait for services, we encourage you to speak with your child’s pediatrician who may be able to refer you to a clinician with more immediate openings. Our Intake Coordinator also is happy to speak with you about referral options and may be able to provide you with the names of other clinicians/agencies in the areas.
